January 10: Our member, Andria Sullivan, welcomed 35 club members to her lovely home in Santa Luz for a presentation on how to put your roses to sleep for beautiful blooms in the Spring. Andria was joined by Master Gardener and RSFGC member, Beth Van Boxtel. Both Andria and Beth demonstrated how to trim a potted rose and discussed the various tools they use for this task. They also discussed general care for roses including choosing good roses, planting for optimum growth, feeding and irrigation. After the presentation, Andria and Beth demonstrated pruning techniques on different varieties of roses in Andria’s garden. However, we did not witness them trimming all 100+ of her rose bushes!
